Project evaluation: WHO-HAI Africa Regional Collaboration for Action on Essential Medicines in Africa 2002-2008

The British Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) has been financing the Programme for WHO-HAI Africa Regional Collaboration for Action on Essential Medicines in Africa 2002 – 2008 through a contribution of £6 million. This report provides an evaluation of the Programme, and draws out lessons learned for WHO’s health systems and medicines strategy, for the role and participation of civil society, and for initiatives such as the multi-stakeholder Medicines Transparency Alliance (MeTA), and WHO’s project on Good Governance for Medicines.
